3622 are Ritualist (6.5% of characters)
3382 are Mesmers (6.1%)
2896 are Paragon (5.2%)
BTW the most popular are:
Monk (14.9%)
Warrior (14.1%)
Elementalist (13.9%)
Remember, popularity doesn't mean good or bad character. mesmer, rit and para are just as goos as all other characters, they just require a bit more thinking/learning to appreciate their skills. I could imagine, and this is speculative, that a mojority of the popular classes are played by the younger players, whereas the ones on the bottom of the list are played by mature players. Unfortunately www.gwchars.de doesn't give statistics on the age of the players

It is because they Rule
Monk (14.9%)
Warrior (14.1%)
Elementalist (13.9%)
I would say Ritualist,Ritualist and Paragon.I am seeing more Mesmers being played.

Rits: We need help
My main is a Ritualist w/27 pve titles and workin on my last 3
(drunkard, sweet, party). I have over 3000 hours on my ritualist but also 3000
hours distributed between my monk, ele, sin, ranger. I just wanted to comment
on the Ritualist class as it has come up many times in this thread. I think
that the Ritualists best days are behind him(Un-nerf Splinter Weapon for PvE
A-net PLZ) even though Ritualists can still be very effectve as long as you
work on pve skills to augment what i find as a disturbingly long line of
lackluster Rit Elites. As of right now the main thing Rits can do effectively is
farm smites in UW+ 600 dungeon's(plz refer to RezDog's thread on Rit
farming). Also they make fairly effective Support damage dealers through
Spirit Strength+Splinter Weapon+Iam the Strongest+By Urals
Hammer+Volley. This combination does roughly 312 damage to the 3
adjacent targets and 150+ to the primary target. When combined with a
Spirit Rift before the volley, it can make the spike rise to 400+ on 3 targets. I
can only imagine the damage that a Ritualist could do with an un-nerfed
Splinter weapon+ the pve skills i listed. As far as healing is concerned im
afraid that Ritualists just lack the energy management that a necro/rit has
and lacks the pure outright healing and protection of a monk. In conclusion i
believe that ritualist is still fun as it could be. All they need is to add some
more spirits, make the activation times reduced by a second, add some Elites
that when combined with a spirit build can actually be effective, un-nerf
Splinter Weapon, And for the LOVE of GoD make OoS a 1energy cast to
counter the Necro/Rit. Then again who really cares about Rits anymore.

Least popular is kinda harsh I'd say "misunderstood"
not alot of people play mesmers because they are generally hard to play, ritualists imo are like a pvp minion master, i dont have a problem with them and personally like to play em(they look cool, move cool and are quite versatile) and paragons are like if guild wars had a noob button it would look like [PARAGON] paragons are sweet and it would be a shame to see them go

I hope they are cut in GW2 because they are so unpopular now and we have enough spellcasters.
|
They're not exactly spell casters, they work much differently. I have both rit and a mez characters and have found them to be very effective. The only problem is knowing how to use them properly. I'd say my mesmer is one of my most powerful characters, no joke. I completed Thunderhead Keep with my mesmer and henchmen only before the other campaigns came out at Lvl 14. They quite powerful, you just have to have good reflexes, be a quick thinker, and know your skillset. It's not for everyone, but underused usually means underestimated and not understood.

I actually see every single type of primary profession in PVP, and in PVE outposts. Heres my list of rarest seen professions seen:
- Paragons
- Warriors (surprisingly)
- Mesmers

Well I do have big feet.
lol would of made a female mesmer but I'd rather have "flamboyent" armor then to be asked to be some weirdo's online gf everytime I'm in an outpost. At least we have pants!
Besides we all know the 3 least popular classes are noobs, rage quitters, and leeroys.

i wouldnt say hated i think if any class is hated it would be the sin because 80% of the time its a noob who thinks a sin can tank. the sooner noobs realize that sins are a hit and run class the better....

think maybe we should just change the title to 'most misunderstood class'
all the rit hate is because people cant be arsed to learn how to play them well and people keep saying warrior is the easiest to play (not to mention one of the core classes and maybe why there are so many in game---)
as for the poster who says I am wasting slots----that is not my rits or mesmers that is my sin, dervish and warrior quite honestly, they are a waste of space in my character slots which is why they are MULES--they are VERY good at that!

Seconded, rits are awesome, their entire skillset is grossly underestimated.
And warriors are NOT easy to play. Even if you suck at them their solid armor and auto-dps still get you somewhere, but most players I know don't play their warrior for the fullest 100%.
My least popular classes are:
-assassin, so one-dimensional, not very versatile, and squishy in PvE, the damage is alright though, but 3 campaigns of moebius/db gets OLD.
-Paragon, because they're utterly boring damage turrets, awesome class for a hero though.
-Monk, a very deep, interesting class, but I just suck at playing one. My mindset wants to smash stuff, not fix it.

I play mesmer and i love playin them because it does require finesse and skill. I like rits(most of the time) but playin as a rit and joining a pug is annoying. First question "RIT DO U HEAL ?" ugh theres so much more to rits then heal but thats all they get used for. Paragons just annoy me. But for me 3 least popular classes would be the 3 melee classes because 1. Most noobs start with melee and 2. I like classes with more finesse like mesmer XD
